Tel Aviv,July 13, 2025. Gaza is becoming a graveyard for children and those suffering from hunger, said Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). He accused Israel of orchestrating a “cruel and Machiavellian plan” in the region.
“In our view, Gaza has become a graveyard for children and starving people,” Lazzarini posted on X. “There is no way out for them. Their only choice is between starvation and being bombed — this is the most ruthless and Machiavellian form of murder.”
According to Gaza’s government offices, at least 800 Palestinians have been killed and 5,101 injured since May 27 while waiting near food aid distribution points run by the US- and Israeli-backed GHS.
Lazzarini’s remarks followed the killing of 15 Palestinians, including nine children and four women, in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, by Israeli forces as they waited in line for nutritional aid, Al Jazeera reported.
UN human rights office spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani stated that from May to July 7, 798 people were killed near aid centers in Gaza.
Israeli soldiers and American contractors working with GHF admitted to shooting unarmed Palestinians gathered for food.
Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), recently returned from his fourth visit to Gaza and described the current crisis as “the worst humanitarian condition ever.” Despite having enough food to feed Gaza’s population for two months, he said WFP trucks were not being allowed to enter.
