Dream of utopian Nepal : Rajesh Adhikari

Rajesh Adhikari, kathmandu. I recall those day when I was cheering up with old friend of mine in a roadside bar, colloquially named Bhatti, to mark hitherto historical republic day on 29th May,2008.The Constitution Assembly gloriously renamed Nepal a Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal abolishing the two hundred forty years old monarchy. Various news agencies from Nepal reported organization of several programs like the army pavilion in Tudikhel. The President and other leaders gave speeches talking about national unity. Majority of people all over the nation lighted oil lamps at their houses hoping major changes, what is more, transmogrification in the nation henceforth. Rays of hope for peace and prosperity was found readable in the faces of poor, dominant and slums people. The thoughts of majority of people were that the main obstacle for betterment of the nation was the monarchy and conspiracy of the monarchs and their kinsmen.
My friend, looking at me with red eyeballs, murmured taking a sip of local wine-Tharra, only affordable multipurpose elixir either marking of merry making or during wretchedness for we like middle class people. My friend, a literature student uttered “See! Look at Horace poem- Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori” he explained the meaning as “it is sweet and proper to die for one’s country”. This democracy was achieved by the blood of many people. Overwhelming spontaneous overflow of patriotic tear merely boosted by tharra intoxication and his poetic utterance drove me to do something for nation leaving my selfishness, personal obligation and so on.

I subconsciously dreamt as our motherland is crisscrossed by roadways and railways from Mountain to Terai and east to west. Three of four lane national highways connect from Panchthar to Darchula by Himali Highway, Ilam to Baitadi by Pahadi Highway and Jhapa to Kanchanpur by Terai Highway. Airports are accessible everywhere within the country. Fairies Many Europeans and Americans landed at Karnalai and Solukhumbu International airports to seek for employment. Nepal has exported uranium and gold from Koshi International port to Brazil. Nepal has donated 5000 tons of rice and wheat to Uganda and Ethiopia from the surplus stock. NSAN(National Space Agency of Nepal) has launched a rocket to moon for investigation of moon surface. Nepal Aircraft Industry has sold ten airplanes to Mexico last year. Nepal Mine Authority has erupted gold from Jomsom and Petrol from Morang. Students from USA, UK, Russia and South Africa could not get seats to enroll at Nepal Medical University in 2018.Japan has ordered to purchase 5 cargo ships from Nepal Ship Industry for 2022 as the company is not able to supply as per excess international demand . No one is houseless, no one is died of hunger, and no one is unemployed in our Utopian nation.
When I opened my eyes I found myself sleeping on bamboo table of roadside bamboo made restaurant colloquially termed as Bhatti with my friend due to Khoyabirke, synonym of Tharra intoxication. All above was my dream. I sew ugly faces of so called political leaders having bizarre belly drinking up sweat and blood of starved people and devouring commissions and contracts. Law and order is applicable for those who are downtrodden as the culprit escapes by the domination of power and money. Authorities seduce our mother and her offspring to leave legacies sufficing up to their future 13 generations rather than crisscrossing roadways, industrialization, formation of infrastructures like hospitals, bridges, schools over the nation. We have umpteen leaders but our country could not generate supreme leader who can benevolently revolute the nation leaving us to live without fear, enxiety, hunger etc further changing our nation into utopian heaven.
Omnipotent and Omniscient almighty god! Send a supreme leader like Lee Kuan Yew, benevolent dictator and first priminister and former president of Singapore who ruled over three decades in changing a third world into first world. He always contemplated in betterment of his nation rather than thinking himself and his offspring. Our leaders, authorities and all country lovers are cordially requested to unite for building our nation creating prosperity and peace leaving admirable legacies to our offspring. The concerned authority may punish to wrongdoers and reward to law-abiding and benevolent citizens by which our nation will be adorned with explamplatory law and order policy creating worldwide fame. May Corruption, Impunity and Injustice be abolished from our nation recalling golden Ram Shah Regime. Our federal democratic Nepal exiled monarchy but unfortunately we are still suffering from Pseudo-democracy. Now people are thinking that the monarchy was not only the key reason for regression of our nation. The key factor for current democratic disorders is the lack of supreme leader who can do anything if it is against the development of the nation like Lee Kuan Yew. The constitutional norms should be applied to all equally either the culprit is minister or a tailor, male or female or king or citizen. The Constitutional applications should be imposed to victims impartially rather than domination of power, money and relationships.
Daydreaming over historical flashback, we find many remarkable things which are simply unforgettable. The golden regime of Ram Shah was remarkable for judiciary. Likewise, Lichhabi era was called golden era in history of Nepal when all citizens were happy and hunger less. The development of infrastructure during Rana regime in the nation was more remarkable than the following eras as well as today although Ranas were conspirator and undemocratic. It is true that we still have to seek for a good and citizen friendly leader to lead our nation towards development. It is partial to blame to leaders only for the betterment of our nation as we citizens are also liable for the betterment of our nation erupting the spontaneous willingness to work for nation rather than fulfilling personal selfish desires. We will alive if our nation lives. Our nation will be globally renowned if we can work for her. I, hereby, appeal to all country lovers to unite for the development of our nation. Our unity of multilingual, multi religious and multi color country lovers can give smile in the face of our motherland.
