Confer Bharat Ratna forthwith on Veer Savarkar

‘ If you truly pride upon Hindu nationalism, confer Bharat Ratna forthwith upon Veer Savarkar, Mr Prime Minister’:

Vivekanand Jha:Today is the birth anniversary of one of the greatest prodigious sons of India, Veer Savarkar, indisputably an icon of the nation. In hindsight, I wondered: whether it was a purely coincidental that, Veer Savarkar’s birth anniversary would immediately follow the day after Pundit Nehru’s death anniversary, or was it on account of some providential design that both the events of significant magnitude have transpired in such scintillating sequence: Savarkar’s birthday following Nehru’s death anniversary? Whereas i hold Nehru as a Yug Purush, almost on the same parameter, I seek even a higher exalted place for great Savarkar in the pantheon of India’s icons.

Significantly, notwithstanding the litany of lies that the dubious leadership of Congress Party might peddle, Veer Savarkar was, unequivocally, one of India’s greatest freedom fighter who spent 11 years in rigorous imprisonment in Cellular Jail in Andaman Nicobar island. Perhaps no Indian worth his name, had undergone such a humongous trial and tribulations as Veer Savarkar had. And prior to all this, his magnum opus The First War of India’s Independence-which this writer read between the lines-is the same glowing tribute to his patriotism. From Lala Hardayal the initiator of Ghadar Movement, to Bhagat Singh, almost all the freedom fighters were inspired by the burning passion of patriotism that the magnum opus so delicately encompasses.

Speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of great Veer Savarkar, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India’s statesman Prime Minister, while pouring encomia on Savarkar, had dubbed him as an ocean while equating himself as a drop of it. The unconfirmed report says that, Netajee Subhas Chandra Bose too, had drawn inspiration from Veer Savarkar for exhibition of his unparalleled patriotism when he fled to Japan for taking charge of Azad Hind Fauj. Importantly, Savarkar’s profound concern about the fate of Hindus brought about by the divided India on communal lines, must be widely appreciated by the Hindu community cutting across the caste lines. Evidently, the Goebbelsian propaganda unleashed by the dynasty of Congress Party to eternally malign him as a communal, was the vindication of Congress’ paranoia towards the cause of the collective aspiration of Hindus.

Regrettably, Savarkar’s letter written to the imperialist government for seeking his release, on remarkably disgraceful terms and conditions, has been a Machiavellian attempts on the part of Congress machinery to stigmatise Savarkar as an eternal villain of secularism or Muslim, is the culmination of the height of Congress’ evil design to diminish Hindutava icon in the estimation of Muslims as well as Hindus. In fact, far from it, Savarkar’s magnum opus India’s First War of Independence, bears testimony to his burning zeal to unite Hindus and Muslims together as the two sons of Mother India. However with Jinnah, unveiling his poisonous venom in seeking Pakistan as an Islamic republic, that caused a deep revulsion in the great patriot who, discomfited by the carving of Pakistan, out of united India, sincerely began to care for Hindus. How could caring for the strategic interest of Hindus be construed as communal, remains a mystery even till this date. Significantly, with a view to set the historic wrongs right, Ataljee sought to install great Savarkar’s statue in Parliament, which was boycotted enmasse by the notorious Congress Party. No wonder it is the daunting challenge for Modi government to straighten out the record: Confer Bharat Ratna upon the immortal Veer Savarkar forthwith, in order to accord him his due place among the pantheon of icons of this nation.
