Say ‘NO’ To Untouchability : State Minister Mandal

Manoj Banaita,Siraha. The State Minister of Province 2, Suresh Mandal has tried to kick out Caste-based discrimination and untouchability which is still ruling in Madhesh. Untouchability is a punishable act under the existing legal system in Nepal.T

he state minister Mandal has assisted a dalit family in a marriage ceremony. He helped financial support to Kushe Mandal on his daughter, Radha Mallik’ s marriage, inhabitant of Prasaahi, , Kalyaanpur Municipality 3. He has played the role of a guardianship on the ceremony. It is said that the financial condition of Mallik family is very poor.M

inister, Suresh Mandal says that there are many types of discrimination and humiliation that Dalits face daily: exclusion from houses, temples, hotels, restaurants, food factories, dairy farms, water sources, and discrimination in jobs (including forced labour), feasts, festivals, marriage

processions, and funerals.”

He further says,” Dalits of Madhesh are frequently subjected to insults and emotional and physical abuse. Dalit women especially suffer great hardships, as some of their disadvantages are rooted in the social structure of Dalits themselves. They are easy victims of domestic violence and trafficking for work in brothels. However, offenders often go unpunished in Madhesh.”
