AB Mall of Siraha Slaps black market

Manoj Banaita, Siraha, April 12 : The only mall of Province -2, AB Mall started selling essentials to display a list of available items along with their prices in order to control black marketeering during the nationwide lockdown.
Since the government announced a nationwide lockdown, many shops that sell daily essential items have remained closed, and those that are open have been accused of charging exorbitant prices for their goods.

“The administration gave us this authority after it received complaints from residents that many shops are charging extra for goods citing shortages,” said Pintu Raut, manager of the mall. The administration of Siraha announced the rule to prevent black marketeering at a time when citizens are locked inside their homes. And said, “We will take action against anyone found cheating at a time of crisis.”
According to the Black Marketing and Certain other Social Offenses and Punishment Act 1975, a person found selling goods at a price higher than that of the market, can be fined Rs 25,000 or jailed for five years.
