Indian delegates advocate stronger bilateral ties for prosperous Nepal

The Indian delegation comprising of many young scholars, researchers, social activists and academicians visited Nepal for a three day international conference on nepal and the world order. The delegates spoked on range of issues covering bilateral relations between both the countries.

Dr. Abhishek Pratap Singh from University of Delhi in his presentation highlighted on new trends in Indo-Nepal relationships under Modi’s neighborhood first policy. He said apart from our rich cultural heritage now the focus is on widening level of engagement based on shared Buddhist heritage, new educational linkages, hydro power generation, Defense cooperation, innovation and technology transfer, skill training, trade and infrastructure development. he ruled out china as a factor in Indo-Nepal ties.

sh. Satyendra Tripathi, Director LokNeeti India, think tank based in Lucknow said COVID-19 has forced our policy makers to go back and rethink about their development policies. it’s a global phenomenon. studies show impact of climate change in the Himalayan region. Climate vulnerability is very high in Nepal and there is greater threat on cultural degradation too. hence development model of Nepal must be based on climate resilient approachesto growth.

Another delegate Dr. Amit Kushwaha from University of Lucknow insisted on need for stable democratic polity in Nepal for the economic development of nepal. he said that political instability can never lead to long term sustainable growth in nepal.

Conference co-convenor Dr. Abhishek Srivastava from JNU, New Delhi argued for more active and deeper institutional cooperation between India and Nepal.

conference also featured session on India Nepal Youth Dialogue with very insightful discussions and exchanges. Program was organised by Neeti Anusandhan pratishthan Nepal and was inaugurated by the Prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuva.
