Birgunj. A new school building of Shree Janata Secondary School in Surunga Municipality of Saptari district, Madhesh Province, was jointly inaugurated on Tuesday by and .
The infrastructure was constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme. The project was implemented through Surunga Municipality.
Established in 1951, Shree Janata Secondary School provides education from Nursery (ECD) to Bachelor level. The school currently has around 627 students enrolled, including 358 girls.
During the inauguration ceremony, representatives of Surunga Municipality, the School Management Committee, and local stakeholders appreciated India’s continued developmental support. They stated that the newly constructed infrastructure would contribute to improving the learning environment and strengthening the education sector in the region.
The Consulate General of India in Birgunj noted that India and Nepal continue to maintain close cooperation across multiple sectors. The implementation of HICDP projects reflects India’s ongoing support for Nepal’s development efforts, particularly in enhancing infrastructure in priority sectors.
