Birgunj (Nepal), August 15, 2023 . The Consulate General of India, Birgunj celebrated the 77th Independence Day of India inside the Consulate Premises today i.e. 15 August 2023 under the aegis of 75 years of India’s Independence, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The celebrations started with hoisting of national flag by Consul General Shri Nitesh Kumar, singing of National Anthem followed by reading out of President of India’s address to the Nation. Students of 15 schools/academy also presented cultural performances during the event.
The event was graced by Shri Saroj Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhesh Pradesh as the chief guest. Other senior ministers of Madhesh Pradesh also graced the event as distinguished guest. About 600 persons including Members of Parliament, Mayors of Birgunj and Janakpur, senior Government officers of Nepal and India, members of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce & Industries, members of Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries – Madhesh Pradesh, office bearers of Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industries, members of the civil society, journalists, Schools Principals & teachers, members of engineering association, officers/officials of the Consulate alongwith their family members attended the event.
