WASHINGTON, D.C. 28 October. The Shree Pashupatinath Foundation, an active organization based in Southern California, has donated Rs 14.8 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist victims of the recent Bhote Koshi floods in Nepal.
According to Bimal Shrestha, President of the Foundation, a total of $99,064 (approximately Rs 15.1 million) was raised through a fundraising campaign that drew support from the Nepali diaspora and various other communities residing in the United States. After deducting banking fees, a final amount of $97,875 (Rs 14.8 million) was officially transferred to the national relief fund.
The formal announcement of the fund transfer was made during a virtual program held in coordination with the Embassy of Nepal in Washington, D.C.
The Foundation highlighted that the relief campaign was made possible by the remarkable contributions of generous individuals, various active organizations, and both Nepali and non-Nepali communities in Southern California.
In a statement, the Foundation emphasized that stepping up to help the motherland during times of disaster—feeling its pain despite living abroad—stands as a powerful example of the patriotism, deep human compassion, and social responsibility ingrained in the Nepali people.
This is not the first time the Shree Pashupatinath Foundation has mobilized to help Nepal during a crisis. The organization previously led significant relief and support programs to aid victims following the devastating Nepal earthquake.
