The Consulate General of India, Birgunj celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India at the Chancery Premises on 15 August 2021 under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, India@75. The national flag of India was hoisted by Shri Nitesh Kumar, Consul General of India. He read out the President’s Address to the Nation after singing of the National Anthem by all the attendees of the event. It was followed by the screening of the pre-recorded short video messages from the eminent personalities of Province 2 including the Chief Minister Shri Lal Babu Raut Gaddi, Chief Attorney, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, President of Bharat Nepal Sahyog Manch, Senior Journalist, Principal and others. A pre-recorded short cultural programmme by the students of school in Birgunj was also screened.
The event was attended in-person by the officers and staff of the Consulate and their family members. In view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic the community members were invited to join the live proceedings of the event through the Facebook page of CGI Birgunj.
