Divya tiwari, Delhi. On an average, 92 women are raped every day in India. According to data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), there were 24,923 reported rapes in India in 2012, which increased to 33,707 in 2013. In 2013, in 15,556 cases, the victim’s age was between 18 and 30 years The cases of rape in Delhi doubled in 2013 compared to the year 2012 in Delhi. Here, 1,636 rapes were registered in 2013 against 706 in 2012. The NCRB data also showed that Delhi recorded four bouts of average rape every day in 2013. Apart from Delhi, in 2013, 391 cases were registered in Mumbai, 192 cases in Jaipur and 171 cases in Pune.According to NSRB figures, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of rape cases in 2013, compared to all states. An average of 11 rape cases were filed here every day.
At the same time, 3,285 cases of rape were registered in Rajasthan, 3,063 in Maharashtra and 3,050 in Uttar Pradesh.The data also revealed that there were 9,082 minor girls in the 2012 rape case and in 2013 the number of minors increased to 13,304. Apart from this, in most of the rape cases, the accused has come out of those who know. The NCRB data also shows that in 94 percent of the cases, the accused identifies the accused well. Among them, in 539 cases, the culprits were the guardians, in 10782 cases the neighbors, in 2315 the relatives and 18171 others do so.
