Siraha : There is a whim of festival in Siraha. Some Municipality and Village Municipality celebrated the festival last week. Some are in plan. Lahan Festival has commenced in town planning area which is at the back of Pashupati High School Lahan from 25th Chaitra. The festival — organised by Lahan Municipality — will be annual event organised around the theme, Lahan’s Pride and Dignified Presentation.
Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel will inaugurate a procession as a precursor to the festival by lightening candle and cutting ribbon. The procession made a round of town planning area. Various organisations are about to participate in the procession. Various seminars on agriculture, education, health, tourism, communication etc. will be organised in the festival,” said Rakesh Roshan Gupta, Chairman of Lahan 7.
Cultural programmes would also be carried out at the festival venue on a daily basis in presence of local and national artists. There will be commercial stalls, agriculture promotion stalls, information and technology related stalls, Madheshis handicraft expo stalls, educational stalls and stalls run by social organisations. Main highlight of the festival is the ‘Culture of Lahan’. The festival that will run till 10th Baisakh is aimed to promote the tourist spots in Lahan and to make this place a premier tourism destination.
