
Manoj Banaita, Siraha, 22 April : Several educational institutions in Kathmandu have switched to virtual classrooms amid the lockdown over rising novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.
For instance, Samriddhi School of Kathmandu has adopted e-learning for its students to compensate for days missed due to the lockdown.
Samriddhi school located at Balaju, Kathmandu is using the Google Classroom platform, a free web service that aims to simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way.
“Google Classroom is an easy platform for students to access lessons, study materials and submit assignments shared by their teachers. It is a versatile application that can be used on a desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile phone. It is convenient for both students and teachers,” said Naresh Prasad Shrestha, CEO of Samriddhi school.
Shrestha added “Our School is starting regular online classes and academic activities from this coming Friday, Baisakh 12, 2077 (April 24, 2020). Nursery to Grade 10 students will participate in these classes. Initially, we are using Zoom Video Conferencing platform and are in the process of acquiring our own online learning system.”
The online classes have satisfied the guardians of kids as well. Rajesh Devkota, a guardian said “Kids have the wonderful talent, ability & curiosity to learn new things & show creativity. Thanks to Sambriddhi School for growing practical skills & giving useful education on future stars of our nation.”
