Birgunj (Nepal),October 25, 2021. As part of the ongoing celebrations of Azadi kaAmrit Mahotsav (India @ 75), the Consulate General of India in Birgunj organized a nk panel discussion on the topic “Challenges to National Unity in current scenario and ways and means to overcome them” inside the chancery premises on October 25, 2021.
The panel consisted of Shri Om Prakash Sikaria, Ex-President of Nepal Hindi Sahitya Parishad and a prominent businessman, Smt. Sushma Tiwari Dwivedi, Director of Siddharth International College, Birgunj, Shri Surendra Kurmi, Lawyer practicing at District Court, Birgunj , Shri Murli Manohar Tiwari, Bureau Incharge, Himalini Hindi Magazine, Birgunj and Shri Nitesh Kumar, Consul General of India. The Officers and other members of the Consulate were in attendance during the discussion.

The panelists highlighted the roles of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Maharaja Prithvi Narayan Shah in unification of India and Modern day Nepal respectively and opined that like the rest of the world both India and Nepal face similar types of challenges to national unity. The need for establishing balance in differences and bringing unity in diversity through various measures were also discussed.
