India-Assisted School Building Inaugurated in Sankhuwasabha District, Nepal

Kathmandu, December 18, 2025 — A new school building at Diding Basic School in Chichila Rural Municipality-3, Sankhuwasabha District, Koshi Province, was jointly inaugurated today under the Government of India’s High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). The inauguration ceremony was led by Mr. Basist Nandan, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Mr. Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Chairman of Chichila Rural Municipality. The project, implemented through the local rural municipality, provides enhanced classrooms and allied facilities for the school.Established in 1962, Diding Basic School serves students from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 5. Stakeholders, including the school management and local representatives, expressed gratitude for India’s support and highlighted how the new infrastructure will create a better learning environment and strengthen education in the region.
This initiative is part of India’s ongoing developmental cooperation with Nepal. Since 2003, the Government of India has supported over 550 HICDPs across Nepal in sectors like education, health, and infrastructure, with 85 projects completed in Koshi Province alone, including several in Sankhuwasabha.
