Kathmandu, Nepal – July 16, 2025:
The foundation stone for the Arun Multi-Purpose Community Center was jointly laid today by Mr. Shalikram Khatri, Chairperson of Arun Rural Municipality, and Mr. Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor at the Embassy of India, Kathmandu yesterday.
The project, implemented under the India-Nepal Development Cooperation framework, is being built with a financial grant of NPR 31.88 million from the Government of India. The three-story building will include classrooms, meeting rooms, a multi-purpose hall, separate toilets for boys and girls, and other necessary facilities.
The project is being implemented through the local government of Arun Rural Municipality as part of India’s High-Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs). Local representatives praised India’s continued support for Nepal’s development, particularly in education and cultural infrastructure.
Since 2003, India has supported more than 570 HICDPs across Nepal, including 93 in Koshi Province. Additionally, India has gifted 1,049 ambulances and 300 school buses to various institutions in Nepal — including 7 ambulances and 1 school bus to Bhojpur.
The initiative reflects India’s strong commitment to supporting Nepal’s grassroots development priorities and strengthening bilateral ties between the two neighbors.
