
14 àprill, Birgunj, Nepal, As part of Celebrations under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ( India @ 75), the Consulate General of India in Birgunj screened a film on Dr.B.R. Ambedkar in the consulate today (14 April, 2022) to commemorate his 131st Birth Anniversary ( Amdedkar Jayanti). Dozens of social activists, journalists & members of civil societies of Birgunj watched the movie, alongwith officers & staff members of the consulate. A short film on Mahatma Jyotiba Phule whose Birth Anniversary was on 11 April was also screened on the occasion. Floral tributes were also offered by the viewers on the photograph of Baba Ambedkar before screening of the films.
Both the movies highlighted the life & deeds of Baba Ambedkar & Mahatma Phule & underlined their role in upliftment of dalits & downtrodden and emancipation & empowerment of women etc. Both the movies also illustrated their contributions in abolition of untouchability, caste system , widow remarriage and other social evils prevalent at that time. It created good impact on the viewers.
