Monsoon in Nepal: 568 Disaster Incidents, 43 Deaths in Two Months

Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has released a report detailing the impact of the monsoon during the two-month period since it began on May 29 (Jestha 15). According to the report, 568 monsoon-related disaster events have been recorded across the country, resulting in 43 deaths, 18 people missing, and 116 injured.

The disasters have directly affected 2,112 families, the authority confirmed. Encouragingly, both the number of incidents and the extent of human and material loss are lower compared to last year.

One of the most severe incidents occurred in Rasuwa district, where a sudden flood in the Bhotekoshi River caused significant damage to life and property.
