Kathmandu, Nepal \u2013 The Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers Workshop (HLF\u2013WWK) has announced the introduction of a groundbreaking Poetry Film Festival as part of its 2026 event, marking the first dedicated festival of its kind in the region focused on the intersection of poetry and cinema.Scheduled from May 29 to June 5, 2026, in Kathmandu, the Poetry Film Festival will showcase lyrical, narrative, and experimental films where poetry forms the core of the cinematic experience\u2014works “born of language, carried by rhythm, and rendered in light and shadow.”Organizers are calling for submissions from filmmakers, writers, artists, and festival directors worldwide. Eligible categories include:Short poetry films
\nLiterary adaptations and adapted screenplays
\nBiographical or documentary films on poets and writers
\nFeature-length films rooted in literary or poetic traditions<\/p>\n

The festival especially welcomes innovative, cross-genre, and experimental pieces that blur lines between poetry, prose, cinema, performance, and visual art.Submissions are open until March 15, 2026, and can be sent to hlfwwk2026@gmail.com (mailto:hlfwwk2026@gmail.com).
