Kathmandu, 15 August 2025 \u2013 The Embassy of India in Kathmandu marked the 79th Independence Day of India with a vibrant celebration that brought together members of the Indian community in Nepal, friends of India, Embassy officials, and their families. The event reflected the shared cultural bonds and close ties between India and Nepal.<\/p>\n
Flag Hoisting and Presidential Address<\/p>\n
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Indian national flag by the Ambassador of India to Nepal. This was followed by the broadcast of the Hon\u2019ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu\u2019s address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day. In her remarks, the President reflected on India\u2019s remarkable progress over the past 78 years, highlighting achievements in economic growth, social development, and technological advancement.<\/p>\n
Honouring Armed Forces Families<\/p>\n
On this occasion, the Ambassador honoured the widows and next of kin of personnel of the Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives in service to the nation.
