Beijing,14 July 2025. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during his ongoing visit to China. The meeting focused on key bilateral issues including border tensions, terrorism, and global challenges. Jaishankar emphasized that stable and constructive relations between India and China are not just beneficial for both countries, but also vital for global stability.<\/span><\/p>\n Dialogue on Border Peace and Global Cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n In his opening remarks, Jaishankar noted that the meeting would cover global and regional matters, including cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) framework. \u201cTerrorism, separatism, and extremism are common concerns, and India hopes for a strong endorsement of the \u2018zero tolerance\u2019 policy against terrorism,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n Highlighting progress in bilateral ties, Jaishankar said, \u201cOver the past nine months, we’ve made significant strides in normalizing our relations, particularly through our efforts to reduce border tensions and maintain peace. This forms the basis for rebuilding strategic trust and strengthening ties.\u201d<\/p>\n “India-China Relations Must Be Guided by Mutual Respect and Sensitivity”<\/p>\n Stressing the multifaceted nature of India-China relations, Jaishankar said both nations are not only neighbors but also major global economies. \u201cEnhancing people-to-people contact and removing trade barriers will further deepen cooperation. Stable India-China ties based on mutual respect and shared interests are in the interest of the entire world,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n “Competition Must Not Turn into Conflict”<\/strong><\/p>\n Jaishankar reiterated a previous agreement between the two countries that differences should not escalate into disputes. \u201cWe must ensure competition does not lead to conflict. That principle should guide the future of our bilateral engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations<\/p>\n Jaishankar congratulated China on assuming the SCO presidency and reaffirmed India\u2019s commitment to achieving positive outcomes in upcoming multilateral engagements. Reflecting on the momentum built since the leaders\u2019 summit in Kazan in October 2024, he said both sides should maintain the pace of engagement.<\/p>\n Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China, Jaishankar expressed gratitude for the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra after a five-year hiatus and appreciated China\u2019s cooperation on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Beijing,14 July 2025.
