Birganj, 23 April .As part of celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahtosav (India @ 75), the Consulate<\/span><\/p>\n

General of India in Birgunj organized a day-long Athletics Meet on April 23, 2022 at Narayani
\nStadium in Birgunj. Around one hundred Athletes from Consulate General of India in
\nBirgunj, Nepal Police, Birgunj Municipal Corporation, Telecom Department, Electricity
\nDepartment, Gyanda Academy, DPS and DAV R.B. Kedia School and Civil Society of Birgunj
\nparticipated in the Meet. Seven track events (100 metres ,200 metres ,400 metres, 800 metres
\n,1600 metres , 4×100 metres relay, and 4×400 metres relay) and four field events (Long Jump,
\nHigh Jump, Discus Throw and Shot put) were organized during the meet.
\n2. The Athletics Meet was flagged off by Consul General Nitesh Kumar at 0600 hrs in the
\nmorning. The events were held in cordial atmosphere and the participants showcased full
\nenthusiasm. Each event had three prizes: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Altogether, 53 prizes
\nincluding 51 for individual event, 1 Shield for Best Athlete and 1 Trophy for Best team were
\npresented to the winners by Consul General Nitesh Kumar. Birgunj Municipal Corporation
\nteam was adjudged the best team and Ms. Sangita Yadav of same team was declared the Best
\nPlayer of the Meet. Armed Police Force was the close second in terms of performance
\nfollowed by DAV R.B. Kedia School and the Consulate General of India.<\/p>\n

\n3. This was the first athletics meet organized by the Consulate General of India in Birgunj
\nsince its inception nearly two decades ago. The purpose of the event was to underline the
\nimportance of health and fitness and promote people to people relations and to nurture
\nharmony, coordination and cooperation among the different government departments and
\ncivil societies of Birgunj with the Consulate. The event was highly successful as both
\namateurs and professionals competed and pushed their limits. The Consulate General of
\nIndia is committed to hold numerous participative events in the future as well.
