Kathmandu. In an impressive function co-hosted by Nepal Rashtra Bank and Embassy of India , three Commemorative Coins minted by NRB to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, first Sikh Guru were launched by Dr Chiranjibi Nepal, Governor NRB and Sh. Manjeev Singh Puri, Ambassador of India to Nepal. Three coins are in the denomination of NPR 100,1000 and 2500 and are now available for sale at NRB. Nepal has issued 3 Commemorative coins which are legal tenders . This is truly appreciated and speaks about depth of Sikh Connect in Nepal.
In the same function, both dignitaries also released a publication showcasing Sikh Heritage of Nepal . The book has been published by BP Koirala India Nepal Foundation , Embassy of India and attempts to highlight the major Sikh connect with Nepal. Ambassador Puri gave a comprehensive and very impressive presentation bringing out key aspects of Sikh Heritage of Nepal.
The function was attended by S. Harpreet Singh , Jathedar of Akal Takht , highest temporal seat of Sikhs , S. Gobind Singh Longowal, President, Shoromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee, Amritsar, elected body responsible for management of historical gurudwaras in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Few prominent Sikh leaders from Punjab including Sh. Charanjeet Singh Atwal , former Deputy speaker of Lok Sabha also participated in the event .
The event was attended by representatives of Sikh Community from Nepal as well as Nepalese people from different walks of life.
